Playing a test
Run an approved test on any of your sites with one click, watch it live, and understand each run status from Queued to Passed or Failed.
Once a test is approved, running it is one click. Replays don't use AI, so they're fast, cost nothing extra, and do exactly the same thing every time.
Play one test
- Open Tests and find the test. Approved tests have a Play button on their row.
- Or open the test, choose a site from the dropdown next to Play (for example Staging), and press Play.
The run page opens straight away.
Play several tests
On Tests, tick the tests you want and press Run selected. They run in parallel, up to your plan's concurrency limit, and you get a progress page for the batch.
For a set you run often, create a suite.
Watch it live
While a test runs, the run page shows the Live browser, what the test browser shows right now, next to the list of steps as they pass. A full replay video is saved when the run ends.
Run statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Queued | Waiting for a free test runner. Runs start as soon as one is available. |
| Running | The browser is performing the steps. |
| Passed | Every step and check succeeded. |
| Failed | A step couldn't be done or a check didn't match. Usually a real change on your site. See Investigating failures. |
| Timed out | The run took longer than your plan allows, or a page never finished loading. |
| Error | Something went wrong outside your site, such as the browser crashing. You aren't billed for runs our infrastructure fails. |
| Skipped | Not run, for example because the test is paused by a plan limit or a suite stopped at the first failure. The run says why. |
| Canceled | Stopped by someone, or because the workspace's plan ended before it started. |
Retry and cancel
- Cancel stops a queued or running test.
- Retry appears for Timed out and Error runs, where trying again can change the result. A Failed run is answered by finding out what changed, not by retrying.
Run on a different site
The same test can run on any site in its project. Pick the site in the dropdown before pressing Play. Each site uses its own address, test logins and sign-in test. See Site settings.
