Site settings
Configure each site's address, allowed hosts, screen size, device, locale and time zone, production protection, test logins and sign-in test.
Open Sites & test logins in the sidebar and press Configure on a site to change how tests run there. Only Admins and Owners can change site settings.
Address and allowed hosts
- Base URL is the site's address, such as
https://staging.example.com. Tests start here, and paths in steps (like/checkout) are relative to it. - Additional allowed hosts: during a run, the browser can only reach the base URL's host and the hosts listed here, one per line. Add the other domains your app really needs, such as a login provider (
login.example.com) or an API (api.example.com). Wildcards like*.example.comare supported.
Requests to anything else are blocked. This stops tests from wandering onto other websites, and keeps private networks and cloud metadata addresses out of reach.
If a page looks broken only during test runs, such as missing styles or a login button that does nothing, a host it needs is probably blocked. The run's trace lists blocked requests. Add the host and run again.
Browser settings
| Setting | Default | Use it to |
|---|---|---|
| Viewport width / height | 1280 × 800 | Test a specific screen size |
| Device emulation | none | Emulate a phone or tablet (overrides the viewport), for example iPhone 13 |
| Locale | en-US | Set the browser language, number and date formats |
| Timezone | UTC | Match your users' time zone, for date-sensitive flows |
To test the same flows on desktop and mobile, create two sites with the same address, for example Staging and Staging (mobile) with device emulation, and run your suite on each.
Production protection
Tick This is a production environment for live sites. Steps marked destructive (deleting, paying or sending things) are blocked there, so a test can never delete real data or place a real order.
Test logins
The Secrets list holds the site's credentials, such as LOGIN_EMAIL and LOGIN_PASSWORD. Values are encrypted and never shown again after saving. Saving an existing name replaces its value. See Test logins and passwords.
Sign-in test
Sign in with chooses a test that runs before every other test on this site, so other tests can start signed in. Choose No sign-in (tests start signed out) to turn it off. See Signing in before every test.
