Projects and sites
Organize tests by website with projects, run them against staging or production sites, and use the project switcher to focus on one or see everything.
Most teams test more than one thing: a customer site and an admin portal, or the same app on staging and production. ReplayQA organizes this with projects and sites.
Projects: one per website or app
A project holds everything for one application: its tests, recordings, suites and sites. Create one for each distinct app, for example Shop, Admin portal and Marketing site.
- Your first project is created during onboarding.
- Add more under Projects → Create project. Enter a name and the staging address, and a Staging site is created for you.
- Or upload a video of a new website: if its address isn't one of your sites, ReplayQA creates a project for it. See Uploading a video.
Sites: where tests run
A site (also called an environment) is one copy of a project's app, with its own address:
| Site | Address |
|---|---|
| Staging | https://staging.shop.example.com |
| Production | https://shop.example.com |
| Preview | https://pr-142.shop.example.com |
The same tests run on any of the project's sites. Pick the site when you press Play, or set a suite's Default environment. Each site has its own test logins and settings. See Site settings.
The project switcher
The dropdown near the top of the sidebar controls what you see:
- Choose a project to focus on it. Home, Tests, Runs, Recordings and Suites then show only that project, and new uploads go to it. A bar at the top of each list reminds you what's filtered, with a link to Show all projects.
- Choose All projects to see everything at once. Tests are grouped under a heading per project, run lists gain a project column, and Home shows a card for each project with its pass rate and last run.
Each project has a colour, used consistently in the switcher, lists and tags, so you can tell them apart at a glance. With many projects, type in the switcher's filter box to find one.
ReplayQA remembers your choice between visits.
Several workspaces
Projects belong to a workspace. If you work with several companies or teams, each can have its own workspace with separate members and billing. Switch workspaces from the very top of the sidebar.
